The Waterloo Police Department reports on August 14, 2021 at approximately 10:13 PM officers responded to Connie’s Diner located at 205 East Main Street for the report of smoke coming from the business.
Upon arrival the building was found to be smoking heavily. The Waterloo Fire Department responded with mutual aid from Seneca Falls, Fayette, and Border City Fire Departments. Entry was made into the business and an active fire was located in the basement of the structure which was subsequently extinguished.
The building is owned by Carmen Caratozzolo and is insured. The Seneca County Fire Investigation team responded and determined the cause of the fire to be accidental electrical in nature. Also assisting at the scene were Seneca County Codes, North Seneca Ambulance, and Seneca County Health Department, with Geneva and Aurelius Fire Departments on standby.
